I have been coming to hotel Karina for ten years now, and it never ceases to shock me on why this is only a two star, our other holiday each year is always at a sandels or other 4/5 star hotel, Karina has the most fantastic views i have seen from a hotel balcony, just sit there and watch boats go by and the sun shining in the sea with a drink in your hand, chillout time.
Over the years Spiros has made some good changes to the rooms, he has put in air conditioning if you want it, also a small two ring cooker for cooking bits and bats or a cup of tea in the morning, a fridge for those long drinks on the balcony. The rooms are basic greek rooms but very clean and cleaned 6 days a week.
Downstairs there is a nice bar and lounge to have a drink or eat something on the menu, while meeting other guests, this is a family hotel for families or couples, it is very safe. It is about ten minutes walk from town which is very pleasant to walk on an evening or there is a bus that can take you in different directions to beaches or around the island to Corfu town and other nice places to visit.
The swimming pool is clean and warm water in the warm sun. Sometimes they have barbques, bands on, greek dancers.
Now the things against it, because the views are spectacular means its on a hill so if you are to old or in a wheel chair its not for you because of the steps to your rooms, but i have stayed on each floor and never found it a problem, the walk to the hotel from the road is no problem at all for anyone, its just the steps to your room.
The beach is not very good, but there is a bus that can take you to the most beautiful beaches, one being Marathia, and that are the only two issues that may be a concern.
I have found this hotel and family to be a great retreat for little money, in the garden of Greece, Corfu, enjoy

I found the holiday last minute as a budget and was i really pleased if you can get over the steps to you re room and the walk in to town then this hotel should not be over looked
i have stayed in some expensive with all the frils but the karina for me was superb the hospitality the service the home cooked food was awsome. Spiros jo george everyone that worked there at this hotel were amazing and the best bit staffis the dog. I will be going back for sure next year infact i have already booked. Ok there is not much of a beach i i recommend taking water shoes failing that hope on a bus which stops just outside the karina and go to messonghi 10 miniute bus ride and a lovely sandy safe beach . thanks very much for a superb holiday karina.
